Every numeric handicap from scratch to 25 is free, because playing someone at your own level is the point of the app, not a paywall. A 12-handicap opponent hits greens, scrambles, and three-putts at the rates a real 12 does, validated in 1,000-round batches against published amateur data, within 4% on greens in regulation, scrambling, and putts per round. You should lose to someone you can imagine beating next month.
Play a practice round against the statistical average of the field you are about to face, on the course you will face them on. A range session tells you how you are hitting it. Eighteen holes against the field average tells you whether that is enough, hole by hole, before it counts.
Build an AI Twin from your real rounds: your distances, your misses, your tendencies. Then compete against last month's version of yourself and watch the gap. Or dial up a friend's twin when they can't make it out, your course's Virtual Club Champion, or a major-champion archetype when you want a standard worth chasing.
A full 18-hole AI simulation completes in about ten milliseconds, fast enough to be live on the tee, accurate enough to be worth beating.
Simulated rounds per handicap profile before every release, checked against published benchmark bands. When a number drifts outside tolerance the release gate fails. The realism claim is tested, not asserted.

A junior with nobody to play against still has someone to play against. A member between events still has a match. That is what PinHigh gives a facility: a Virtual Club Champion anyone can challenge, a season-long ladder, and a picture of the season a sign-up sheet cannot give you, who is still playing in week ten, who has played the most rounds, and whose scores are coming down. In junior mode the AI models the habits coaches actually teach: conservative targets, safe recoveries from trouble, correct penalty procedure under the Rules of Golf. Character is a design constraint, not a filter.
